I have a Nokia N86 on the way. I have talks on it. What other things can or should I put on this to make it a kick ass phone for the blind?
If you like Twitter, Tweets60 is a great Twitter client that works well with Talks. The Emoze email client is good too. The nokia email client that comes on the N86 is accessible with Talks 5, but I still prefer Emoze. I find it more intuitive than the Nokia client. Maybe it's just because I was already used to Emoze, but the Nokia client just bugs me for some reason. Enjoy your new phone. It's a good one. I've had mine for about 5 months and love it.
Thanks. what about any GPS apps? is there a receiver built in? or do I need to get a bluetooth one? It is a bluetooth phone, right?
It has bluetooth and has built in GPS. But, with the demise of Wayfinder, there aren't any good accessible GPS apps. There is a free one called Lodestone that some people have had success with. I haven't tried it myself so I can't say. I have also read about some people who have figured out how to use Nokia Maps. Apparently, it's sort of accessible. You can't map out routes or anything, but by memorizing some menu sequences, some people have gotten it to announce current location info and street crossings. All the information I've read also says that while the internal GPS receiver works, you'll get more accurate info with an external receiver. Sorry I don't have any first hand experience to share with you on any of this. I just read a lot. I'm waiting for some better GPS alternatives to come along before I venture into it myself.
Is there an accessible messenger client with Talks?
I think so. I've seen some messages on the Talks email list about messenger programs, but since I don't use them I don't really pay attention so I can't say for sure. I'll try to pay more attention and come back and post if I see something.
I have IM Plus version 7.14 on my Nokia N96, same class, Symbian OS 9.3. Have gone in to a lot more detail about this Messenger client on various other topics on the Accessible Devices and other boards, but it is totally, accessible. My N96 actually came with another Messenger client, but I couldn't get that app to even connect without freezing, so I took that off strait away. I also, have Skype for Symbian, JoikuSpot Premium which is a really neat little app which turns your phone in to a WiFi hotspot when you need one, lol, I downloaded the N96 Facebook bookmark from said site in the mobile browser. That will go straight, to your homepage and automatically sign you in to Facebook when you want it, Quick Office is fairly accessible for documents, appointments, even presentations on the go. I did have Emoze, but since my phone broke recently and had to go in for quite major hardware repairs, I haven't put that back on yet. That's like a mobile version of MS Outlook, very accessible on the go as well, but I'm always up for new application ideas myself, so, keep 'em coming!

Any chance you could tell me where to download the outlook and messenger clients from?
Thanks lots!

Emoze can be downloaded from this link:
http://www.emoze.com/
As for IM Plus, well, I have an older version on my phone because later versions didn't seem to work very well with the older Talks 4.11.3 or earlier, but you can download it from this link:

As it isn't advisable to click on any old link these days but to copy and paste them in to your browser, screw the HTML format thing.

Thank you so much!
I bet that's an awsome phone. I'm looking to find one myself as the n82 I had quit working all together. :)
if all you use is windows messenger then wm mobile is a free windows mobile client i heard that works with talks. Though personally i use IM+ as i have AIM yahoo an d Msn accounts.
